The SMS Prepared and Ready Award was given to students who stood out for their commitment to learning. These students showed up each day organized, equipped with the tools they needed, and ready to make the most of every lesson through focus, effort, and enthusiasm.

The SMS Attendance All-Star Award was presented to students who demonstrated outstanding commitment to their education by maintaining consistent attendance throughout the school year. These students not only showed up to class regularly but also actively participated and remained engaged in their learning each day. The award recognized their reliability, dedication, and positive attitude toward being present and involved in the classroom community.

The Puma Award has been presented to students at SMS who consistently exemplify positive character traits in their daily actions. These individuals regularly demonstrate caring attitudes toward others, work cooperatively with peers and staff, and show respectful behavior in all areas of the school environment. These students serve as role models within the school community by upholding the core values of South Meadow School caring, cooperation, and respect.

This week marked a significant milestone in our Social Studies curriculum. On Thursday, 18 of our fifth-grade students courageously presented their Kid Governor campaigns before an audience of 100–150 peers. These students worked diligently to craft compelling speeches and develop campaign platforms aimed at making a positive impact on both our local community and the state. Following the presentations, the fifth-grade class cast their votes and elected Sylvia to represent SMS in the 2025–2026 Kid Governor election, which will take place in the coming weeks. We are incredibly proud of all the students who participated. They demonstrated leadership, initiative, and a strong commitment to civic engagement.

The Responsibility Award has been proudly presented to SMS students in recognition of their ability to remain focused and demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility in their daily academic lives. This honor celebrates students who consistently exhibit positive behavior in the classroom, stay engaged with their work, and serve as outstanding role models for their peers.
