The Creative Problem Solver Puma Award was presented to SMS students who have demonstrated the ability to approach challenges with imagination, flexibility, and thoughtful innovation. These students think beyond the obvious solutions, using creativity and critical thinking skills to solve problems in unique and effective ways. They remain open-minded when faced with obstacles, explore different perspectives, and are willing to try new strategies in order to reach positive outcomes.

This week, the Puma Reflect and Improve Award and the Empathy in Action Award were presented together to recognize students who demonstrate meaningful personal growth and care for others within our school community. The Puma Reflect and Improve Award was given to students who show a strong ability to learn from their experiences. These students take time to think about their actions, accept feedback with a positive attitude, and use challenges as opportunities to grow. The Empathy in Action Award was presented to students who consistently show an understanding of others’ feelings and perspectives. These students lead with kindness and compassion, offering support, encouragement, and respect to those around them.

The Puma Clear Communicator Award is presented to SMS students who consistently demonstrate the ability to express their ideas clearly, confidently, and with kindness. These students take the time to choose their words thoughtfully, ensuring their message is understood while also showing respect and consideration for others. Through their positive and effective communication, they help foster a supportive, inclusive, and respectful school community.
The Problem Solver Puma Award was presented to students who consistently demonstrated the ability to resolve conflicts in a calm, respectful, and thoughtful manner. These students approached challenging situations with patience and self-control, listened carefully to others, and worked collaboratively to find fair and positive solutions. Through their actions, they modeled empathy, responsibility, and strong character, helping to create a supportive and inclusive school community.

The Respect for All Award is presented to SMS students who consistently demonstrate respect by treating everyone with fairness, kindness, and dignity. These students show consideration for others in their words and actions, value differences, and promote inclusion within the school. Through their positive behavior and thoughtful interactions, they help create a welcoming, supportive, and respectful environment, making the entire SMS community a better place for all.
