Photography students have been engaging in hands-on lessons about cropping and depth of field. They have learned how thoughtful cropping can enhance composition and focus attention, while depth of field techniques help isolate subjects or create depth. Armed with their cameras, students took to the hallways and classrooms, experimenting with different apertures and compositions. As they share their images and insights, each student discovers how these techniques can elevate their storytelling through photography.
Lois Lowry Visits 7th Grade
Lois Lowry, the award-winning author of The Giver, made a special remote visit to our 7th-grade class. The Giver, which explores themes of individuality, memory, and societal control, is a central part of the 7th-grade curriculum and remains a thought-provoking favorite among students. Lowry is also known for her Newbery Medal-winning novel Number the Stars, which addresses courage and freedom during World War II. Her works encourage young readers to question societal norms and reflect on their own lives.
